Can I set up an account? FAQ’S 1.What do you do? We remove junk and rubbish from residential and commercial properties. We can supply our junk truck with 1, 2 or 3 junk technicians depending on what is required. Our range of services includes rubbish clearances, house clearances, office clearances, trade sack pick-ups, garden clearances and flat rip outs. Back to top 2. What can you take away? We can take anything you want provided that it can be safely carried to the truck and is non- hazardous. Examples of what we can take are as follows: Appliances – fridges, freezers, air-conditioning units, microwaves, cookers, washing machines, tumble dryers TV’s, stereos and computers. Furniture – sofas, armchairs, beds, filing cabinets, desks, wardrobes, chest of drawers, boardroom desk, swivel chairs Garden junk – leaves, soil, turf, wood, hedge cuttings Household junk – doors, shelving, books, boxes, tools, machinery, utensils, carpets, rugs, flooring, clothes Exterior junk – fencing, gates, benches, garden furniture, sheds, paving stones, pallets, crates Construction junk – flooring, plaster, glass, concrete, rubble We cannot dispose of the following hazardous materials: asbestos, toxic waste, tyres, chemicals, cans of paint, motor oil, gas canisters, vehicle batteries, solvents, medical waste or biological waste. IT equipment, fridges, freezers and air conditioning units are all classed as hazardous but we can collect them and dispose of them for you. There is a separate charge for each of these items. Back to top 3. What equipment does you Junk truck come with? Our junk truck comes with 1, 2 or 3 junk technicians, a vacuum, brushes, a shovel, dustsheets, shoe covers, cleaning cloths and cleaning sprays. Back to top 4. Are you licensed to do this work? Yes we are licensed by SEPA (Scottish Environment Protection Agency). We are registered SEPA waste carriers. Back to top 5. Are you insured to do this work? Yes we are fully insured. We have public liability insurance up to £2 million and employers liability up to £10 million. Back to top 6. Can you give me an exact price over the phone? No. The Bluestone office will give you a guideline estimate over the phone. We base estimates on the amount of junk to pick up and the time it will take to load it into the Bluestone Junk truck. Until we see what there is to pick up we cannot give you a precise price. Back to top 7. How do you charge? We charge in two parts. One part is charged for the hours worked and the use of the tipper truck and the other is for the junk disposal tipping fees. Back to top 8. How can I pay? You can pay by cheque or cash. All cheques are to be made payable to Bluestone Junk. Back to top 9. What do you do with the junk you collect? Most of our junk goes to recycling depots and waste transfer stations. Wherever possible we donate items to local charity shops. Some items are sold and all the proceeds are put into The Bluestone Foundation fund. Back to top 10. Why would I use Bluestone Junk if I could hire a skip instead? We do all the loading and removing and you only pay for the time worked and the exact amount of junk taken. With a skip you require a permit, you pay for the full size regardless of how much you fill and you have the added worry of others using it! Back to top 11. How much notice do you require? The more notice the better but we try and work to a 48 hour turn around depending on the time of year. Back to top 12. Do you do jobs outside Edinburgh? Yes we will pick up junk outside Edinburgh. Each job is discussed depending on the distance and size of the job. Back to top 13. Can you do the work for me if I am not on site? Yes we can. Provided that we can access the junk and can get in touch with you to give you the price this is no problem. For regular clients we can pick up keys and access properties were required. Back to top 14. Can you do the work outside hours? If you require a junk pick up out of hours we will try our best but we cannot guarantee to fit your time. For work during the hours of darkness we may require exterior lighting for safety purposes. Back to top 15. How big is the Bluestone Junk truck? Very big! It is 423 cubic feet, which is about the same as 2.5 regular skips (regular skip is 160 cubic feet). The box tipper is 10 foot long, 6.5 foot wide and 6.5 foot high. Back to top 16. Can you move stuff from one location to another with your truck? No we cannot. We are only insured to take items that are no longer required. If you require items to be moved from one area to another on the same site this can be done but not with the junk truck (costs would be arranged accordingly). Back to top 17. Do you have any guarantees? Yes we do. The Bluestone guarantee is simple. If you are not completely satisfied with our work, please inform us and we will happily do what is required to the area with which you are dissatisfied, for free, guaranteed. Back to top 18. Where are you based? We are based at 41 West Bowling Green Street, Edinburgh, EH6 5NX. Back to top 19. Can I set up an account? For clients who require work on a regular basis we can offer an account. For this we will invoice the jobs and not require them to be signed off and paid on the day. Back to top
